Audit Committee Certified Graduates

Congratulations to the graduates of The Directors College* Audit Committee Program. These graduates have successfully completed the Audit Committee Program and rigorous individual exam, to be granted the privilege to use the official mark Audit Committee Certified (A.C.C.)

The Audit Committee Program was developed in partnership with, and delivered by faculty from, Deloitte Touche, McCarthy Tetrault, and Financial Executives International Canada along with experienced Audit Committee Chairs and behavioral experts.

Mr. William Hilson, A.C.C.
President, Hillhurst Capital

William Hilson is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in the specialty pharmaceutical industry since 2000. He has over 10 years experience as Chief Financial Officer for the Canadian operations of two publicly listed multinational companies - Merck KGaA a large German based pharmaceutical and chemical company and Serono S.A. a swiss based specialty pharmaceutical company listed on the Swiss and New York Stock exchanges. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, performance management, tax, treasury, and risk and was involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions and licensing deals. Prior to his CFO experience, William held Director level positions in Finance and Corporate Development at Hemosol Corp a publicly listed Canadian specialty pharmaceutical company where he was involved in over $250 million in debt and equity financing including a NASDAQ initial public offering. William earned his Chartered Accountant designation while working at a Toronto based firm specializing in tax structure and private holding companies. He was educated at the University of Toronto (1995) and The University of Western Ontario (1993) where he earned a Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Genetics (Honours). He was the recipient of the University of Toronto Open Masters Scholarship and was an accomplished researcher at the Hospital For Sick Children (Department of Neurosciences) and has published abstracts and peer reviewed papers in international journals in the field of molecular neurology. William was a board member of several Canadian Merck KGaA operating companies.
