Mr. Reg Petersen, C.Dir.
I was born on February 20, 1942 in Red Deer, Alberta. I was married in 1961 and have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I received my RIA degree in approximately 1970 which was replaced on July 1, 1985 as a CMA. After working for various industrial organizations I started my own business Versa Care Limited on July 1, 1967. From 1 facility and 40 residents I was able to grow that company to 6500 residents and 5000 employees encompossing 47 facilities. I sold it in 1967. Since then I created the Southbridge Group (www.southbridgeinc.com) which owns and manages various business enterprises. At one point we owned 10 separate businesses and currently still own 5 companies in the kitchen cabinet, food and education fields. In 1982 I formed a foundation, Bridgeway Foundation (www.bridgewayfoundation.ca) which currently has approximately 60 million dollars in assets. The total profits of Southbridge are allocated to the foundation. While I am moving out of the day to day affairs of Southbridge I plan to remain as Chairman of the Board. I recently set up an outside board of directors for Southbridge. As Chairman, I plan to function on a more objective basis and not at all as the former executive. In 2004 I also started another foundation, The Legacy Foundation of Canada (www.legacyfoundationofcanada.com). The purpose of this foundation is to facilitate other business owners to become more effective and efficient in their philanthropic endeavors.
I have had considerable experience in the health care field with Versa Care and lately received exceptional experience in acquisitions and divestitures. The two foundations that I have started show the philanthropic interest that I have.
