Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Mr. John Gildner, C.Dir.
John Gildner is a private investor, and currently serves on the boards of The Westaim Corporation (a TSX-listed investment holding company), Jevco Insurance Company (a Quebec-based property and casualty insurer), and Medexus Corporation (a private pharmaceutical company).
For 25 years, until the end of 2008, John worked in the trading operations of Wood Gundy / CIBC World Markets Inc., most recently as the Managing Director responsible for the company’s global equity-related proprietary trading activities. In addition to this role, he served on many of the company’s senior management committees with diverse responsibilities ranging from divisional operations and planning, risk management, the vetting of research prior to publication, and funds distribution on behalf of the organization’s charitable children’s foundation.
John chairs The Westaim Corporation’s Audit Committee, and serves on the company’s Human Resources and Compensation Committee and its Corporate Governance Committee. He is chairman of Jevco Insurance Company’s Investment Committee, and is a member of its Audit Committee.
He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1983 with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree. John earned his Chartered Director (C.Dir.) from The Directors College, a joint venture between The Conference Board of Canada and McMaster University, in June 2010.
