Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Mr. Robert Thurgur, C.Dir.
Retired, Self Employed
Robert Thurgur was the Vice President Operations at NAV CANADA, responsible for the daily operations, training, automation and standards used in NAV CANADA’s Air Traffic Services operation. In his role he also oversaw the international coordination with global air navigation service providers and regulators, the Level of Service and the Aeronautical Information Management teams. He was appointed to this position in January 2016.
Prior to that Mr. Thurgur was Assistant Vice President Operational Support responsible for the Standards and Procedures, International Coordination and Level of Service teams at NAV CANADA. He has also held the position of Manager, ACC Operations (MACCO) in Toronto, managing the Air Traffic Control responsibilities in Canada’s busiest airspace. As MACCO, he was part of the management team that implemented the Windsor-Toronto-Montreal air corridor enhancement project, a airspace change project that introduced safety and efficiency improvements to one of the busiest air traffic corridors in Canada.
Mr. Thurgur has held Air Traffic Control licenses in the Prince George Tower, the Vancouver ACC En-route and Terminal specialties and the Toronto ACC Terminal specialty.
He was elected as Vice President of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (CATCA) in 1999 for two years, followed by a six-year term as President. In that capacity, he held a position on the NAV CANADA Advisory Committee.
Mr. Thurgur is a graduate of the Queen’s University Business program.
